Letsie is a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA). He has over two decades of short-term insurance experience in Executive management roles. His career culminated into management of underwriting, claims, Procurement, client-facing and risk management functions (Underwriting; Intermediary management; Quality Assurance; Compliance administration; Internal Dispute Resolution; Risk Management; Forensic services).
He has extensive knowledge and experience in both Long-Term and Short-Term insurance and across all insurance business classes. He has a solid understanding of the legal and financial services regulatory environment.
His current professional memberships include Fellow of the Insurance Institute of South Africa (FIISA) and an affiliate member of the Compliance Institute of Southern Africa (CISA). He has facilitated several training sessions on Claims management and processes, Complex claims management and Internal Dispute Resolution mechanisms at the Insurance Institute of South Africa.
He served in various South African Insurance Association (SAIA) subcommittees and as a director in the Insurance Crime Bureau of South Africa.
He holds the Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Statistics; Masters in Business Administration (MBA); an LLB & Certificate in Compliance Management.
Derek Landau (FIISA)
Derek is a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA) and has over 40 years of short-term insurance experience. His expertise includes underwriting; claims; dispute resolution; retail broking; reinsurance; technical underwriting and Enterprise Risk Management.
His expertise extends to Product development including policy wordings; Development of underwriting manuals and guidelines; including the implementation of TCF framework.
Over the years he served on various industry committees of South African Insurance Association (SAIA). Whilst working at the Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA), he was responsible for developing and updating the technical study material for short-term insurance. He was instrumental in setting up the IISA Learning Centre.
Currently, Derek is consulting for various companies on Technical Underwriting matters and is also involved with Research and Development.
